The United Nations Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories, Francesca Albanese, confirmed that she had received threats during her mandate, following her accusation that the Israeli occupation had committed genocide in Gaza, stressing that pressure would not change her commitment to her work.

The United Nations Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories, Francesca Albanese, revealed on Wednesday that she had received threats during her mandate, following her accusation that the Israeli occupation committed genocide in Gaza.

Albanese published a report stating that there are reasonable grounds to believe that Israel committed genocide in the Gaza Strip during its military campaign there.

The United Nations expert presented a report entitled “Anatomy of Genocide” to the United Nations Human Rights Council yesterday, Tuesday, and said: “Israel categorically rejects it.”

When asked whether her work on the report had caused her to receive threats, Albanese said, “Yes, I do receive threats. Not to the point where I think about taking additional precautionary measures yet. But does it constitute pressure? Yes, and neither my commitment will change my work nor its results.”

She said: "It was a difficult time. I was constantly attacked from the beginning of my mandate."

Israel previously criticized Albanese and said that she "delegitimizes the establishment and existence of the State of Israel itself." Albanese denied the accusations.

Albanese said: “Israel aims to systematically destroy the entire population of Gaza, or at least a large part of them.”

It stressed that the administrative and military leaders and soldiers in Israel deliberately distorted the principles of the law, by attempting to commit acts of violence, genocide, and the destruction of the Palestinian people.

She stressed that it is not useful to simply condemn Israel's actions in Gaza and say that it "does not respect international law."
