Diseases that cause a feeling of thirst

Doctors always recommend drinking plenty of water daily for good health. The general rule is to drink 30 milliliters per kilogram of body weight. Of course, if there are no contraindications.

Dr. Yelena Gubkina, an endocrinologist, points out that there are no restrictions in this matter, but there are people who always complain of thirst even though they drink a lot of water. This condition may indicate serious problems in the body.

According to her, thirst is a natural condition of the body that indicates the need to compensate for fluid deficiency. As is known, the average body need of water per day is about 2 liters. If water intake exceeds this rate and the person always feels thirsty, this may indicate the following diseases:

- Diabetes , when the blood sugar level rises, the body tries to get rid of excess glucose through the kidneys, which causes frequent urination and, as a result, thirst.

- Increased thyroid function (thyrotoxicosis)

- Kidney disease , cystitis and other urinary tract diseases

- High levels of calcium in the blood , causing a feeling of thirst and other symptoms such as fatigue and nausea.

- Dehydration . Low fluid levels in the body can be caused by intense physical activity, hot weather, or lack of drinking water.

The doctor recommends consulting a doctor if you constantly feel thirsty for no apparent reason (change in diet, change in weather, or increased physical activity), especially when accompanied by other symptoms such as frequent urination, fatigue, unexplained weight loss, and skin itching.
