PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk (BSI) invites customers and the general public to be more aware of maintaining the confidentiality of personal data in every transaction through the "Guard Your Heart, Guard Your Personal Data" campaign.
SEVP Branding and Communication BSI Kemas Erwan Husainy in his official statement in Jakarta, Saturday, reminded that digital transactions have great potential to be infiltrated by criminals. Personal data is the customer's last defense to avoid fraud attempts by them.
Erwan explained that there are several fraud modes that need to be recognized and watched out for by the public, including phishing via email . Phishing is a fraud that directs victims to fake sites to steal personal data.
Then, fraud via SMS in the name of the bank asking for transaction confirmation by including a fake link or connection to request credential data such as PIN, mother's name, card number, expiry date , CVV/CVC, cellphone number and OTP.
In addition, fraud via telephone or fake WhatsApp claims to be an official officer. In this mode, the perpetrator claims to be a bank officer or other agency to request transaction confirmation by requesting personal data and card credentials and OTP.
Another mode, fake sites that look like official pages. Fraudsters create fake websites that look like official sites to trick victims.
Fraud can also occur by using fake letters. The perpetrator sends an official but fake letter to the victim, the contents of which ask for payment or personal data.
