Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti wants his players to give their all in the three remaining Spanish League matches, starting against Mallorca at the Santiago Bernabeu on.
"I expect a competitive game, like the last few games. We want to field a competitive team to give everything, which is to win the three remaining games," Ancelotti was quoted as saying on the club's official website on Wednesday.
The veteran Italian coach said the La Liga title race was not "over" yet, even though Madrid are seven points behind Barcelona at the top of the standings.
With three games left, the maximum points that El Real can get is nine points. These three wins can make Madrid the champion, provided that Barcelona loses its last three games.
On the other hand, this seven-point advantage could see Barca seal the title midweek. The earliest they could do so would be if Mallorca beat Madrid. If that doesn't happen, Barca can seal the title when they play Espanyol the following day.
"La Liga is not over yet, and we don't want to give it up to the opposing team. We want to do well in these three games and end this difficult season on a positive note," said the 65-year-old coach.
Since returning to Madrid in 2021, Ancelotti has won 11 trophies. This number completes his 15 trophies with Los Blancos, after winning four trophies in his first period from 2013 to 2015.
After three league games, Ancelotti will start a new adventure in his coaching career after accepting the offer from the Brazilian national team. He will work at the team nicknamed Samba on May 26 or one day after his last match against Real Sociedad.
"From the 26th, I will be the coach of Brazil, and this is an important challenge, but now I am the coach of Real Madrid, and I want to end this last journey and this fantastic adventure well," he said.
