Anemia is a health challenge for pregnant women that can impact the development of brain nerves in babies.
Quoting the Hindustan Times page , on Sunday, Director of Obstetrics and Gynecology at CK Birla Hospital Gurugram Dr. Anjali Kumar explained that anemia occurs when the body does not have enough healthy red blood cells to carry enough oxygen to the tissues.
According to him, the need for iron increases significantly during pregnancy to meet the needs of the developing fetus and the mother's increasing blood volume. If these needs are not met, pregnant women may experience iron deficiency anemia.
