Economist: Pinjol must be required to report transactions suspected of being online gambling.

The Institute for Development of Economics and Finance  stated that a mandatory reporting system is needed for online lending platforms , also known as online loans or fintech lending , regarding transactions suspected of being related to online gambling .

Head of Center Digital Economy and SMEs Indef Izzudin Al Farras said that it is very possible for the government to obtain data on smart accounts and digital wallets used to conduct online gambling , especially institutions that are members of the Online Gambling Eradication Task Force.

"Komdigi (Ministry of Communication and Digital), Bank Indonesia and OJK (Financial Services Authority) must work together and ask fintech platforms and digital wallets to carry out mandatory reporting for platforms that identify suspicious transactions," he said when contacted by ANTARA in Jakarta, Wednesday.

He said that the mandatory reporting system could be developed like the Anti-Money Laundering system found in the banking ecosystem.

Izzudin stated that these institutions also need to automatically block accounts that are suspected of transacting with online gambling sites that have been blocked, which can be identified by tracking the flow of funds in collaboration with the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center.
