Manchester United (MU) coach Ruben Amorim was reluctant to respond to the strong news that his team would be getting a new striker from Wolves, namely Matheus Cunha.
This was said by Amorim after MU suffered a defeat in its first pre-season match against ASEAN All Stars with a score of 0-1 at Bukit Jalil Stadium, Malaysia.
"It's something for you, also to take the opportunity because it's your time, but I'm not going to confirm anything. I have no news. We'll see, but there will be some changes," Amorim was quoted as saying on the club's official website on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the strong rumor that Cunha will go to MU has even been confirmed "here we go" by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
In a tweet on his official X account, Romano said that the verbal agreement that MU got Cunha since Sunday night has not changed. The Red Devils, said Romano, have agreed to redeem the Brazilian player's clause from Wolves for 62.5 million pounds sterling or around Rp1.37 trillion.
"There was no doubt since Sunday night: Matheus Cunha would be a Manchester United player from Wolves with a release clause of £62.5m paid in installments," wrote the Italian journalist.
"The verbal agreement was made on Sunday and will be formally signed next week, as was always planned," he added.
Meanwhile, this season the 26-year-old striker scored 17 goals and six assists for Wolves in domestic competition. His goal contribution record is slightly increased from the previous season of scoring a total of 14 goals and eight assists.
