Van Dijk says Liverpool players disappointed with Arnold decision.

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk said the Liverpool players were "very disappointed" after learning of Trent Alexander-Arnold's decision to leave the club for a new challenge, which is now rumored to be at Real Madrid.

The Liverpool-born right-back, 26, was greeted with jeers from much of the Anfield crowd when he came on as a substitute in Sunday's 2-2 draw with Arsenal.

It was Arnold's first game since he announced he would leave his boyhood club when his contract expires at the end of June.

"We are very disappointed that he is not with us next year because he is a fantastic player with incredible quality that we have seen over the last seven years," Van Dijk was quoted as saying by the Daily Mail.

"The reaction happened. He has to deal with it. We as a team have to deal with it. Honestly, I didn't really expect anything, but I think maybe he expected it. It's not easy, not at all. We are here for him," he added.
