General dentist at the University of Indonesia Hospital, drg. Deasy Rosalina, M.MedSc, reminded that active smokers are susceptible to dental and gum problems due to exposure to carcinogenic substances in cigarettes.
"In cases of smoking, it can happen. Suddenly the teeth become loose, even though there are no cavities. Because it has reached advanced periodontitis that is not treated, so that the attachment between the teeth and the bone becomes very far," said Deasy in a health discussion that was followed online.
Gum inflammation and tooth loss are the most common problems found in active smokers. Smoking can have an effect on weakening the supporting tissue of the teeth or periodontal tissue.
