Maman Abdurahman announces retirement from professional football

Veteran defender Maman Abdurahman announced his decision to retire from professional football at the age of 43 on Wednesday, ending his 24-year career in Indonesian football.

"Football has given me a lot, from the bitterness of defeat to the sweetness of victory. However, the most valuable are the memories and experiences I have gained during my 24-year career," Maman wrote on his Instagram account on Wednesday.

He admitted that he was proud to be part of national football and thanked all parties who had provided support so far.

"I am proud to be part of the Indonesian football journey, and I would like to thank all the clubs I have played for, especially my family who have always supported me. Thank you for this amazing journey," he continued.

Maman ended his career after strengthening PSPS Pekanbaru in League 2 since 2024.

One of the peak moments in his career occurred in the last match of the 2023/24 Liga 1 season, when he shared the field with his son, Rafa Raditya Abdurahman in the Persija Jakarta match against PSIS Semarang on April 30, 2024. This moment was a sweet ending to the legend's career.
