Technology company Meta has struck a new deal to finance a geothermal project that could support the development of its artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
As reported by The Verge, Friday, this new agreement was made with the startup company XGS Energy to support geothermal development in the New Mexico region.
XGS Energy is a company developing next-generation geothermal management technologies that make it possible to use this energy source in previously unviable places.
The deal is expected to add 150 megawatts of carbon-free electricity to the grid connected by Meta's data center in the region.
