A statement issued by the alliance stated that NATO and Jordan signed the agreement yesterday, Thursday, in the Belgian capital, Brussels.
He explained that the agreement was signed on behalf of the Jordanian side by the Jordanian Ambassador to NATO, Yousef Al-Batayneh, and on behalf of the Alliance by the Special Representative for the Southern Neighborhood, Javier Colomina.
It is noteworthy that the decision to open NATO's first diplomatic office in the Middle East was announced during the alliance's summit in Washington, D.C., in July 2024.
The decision reflects the Allied leaders' goal of strengthening NATO's approach to its southern neighborhood and increasing the Alliance's presence and visibility in the region.
The office is scheduled to open shortly after the agreement is signed.
