Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said in an interview with French television channel LCI that his country would welcome Russian President Vladimir Putin with dignity and respect if he decided to visit Budapest.
The Hungarian Prime Minister added: "If the Russian President wishes to visit our country, we will receive him appropriately."
It is noteworthy that Orbán has met with the Russian president twice since 2022. On October 17, 2023, during the One Belt, One Road Forum in Beijing, they discussed the situation "in the world and in Europe."
The Hungarian Prime Minister stressed the need to quickly end the armed conflict in Ukraine, affirming his country's interest in maintaining cooperation with Russia.
On July 5, 2024, Orbán visited Moscow. The main topic of his meeting with the Russian President was settling the situation in Ukraine and resuming dialogue on a wide range of issues.
