Dr. Dmitry Karpenko, Associate Professor at the Institute of Clinical Medicine of Pirogov State Medical University, notes that almonds, pumpkin seeds, lentils, bell peppers, and carrots promote hair growth and improve its quality.
According to him, diet directly determines the efficiency of hair follicles, metabolic activity, and the effectiveness of the hormonal and immune systems. A healthy diet helps maintain the beauty of hair and protect it from falling out, especially during stressful situations, such as viral infections.
He says, "Nuts, especially almonds , are among the most effective products for maintaining healthy hair. They are rich in vitamin E, known as a powerful antioxidant. This vitamin improves microcirculation in the scalp, nourishes hair follicles, and protects cells from damage caused by free radicals. In addition, almonds contain polyunsaturated fatty acids, which strengthen hair structure, making it more elastic, soft, and silky to the touch."
According to him, pumpkin seeds are another essential product for healthy hair, as they are an important source of zinc, which is essential for the normal functioning of the immune system, participates in the synthesis of sex hormones, and helps regulate metabolic processes in the skin and hair follicles.
He says, "It's essential to include legumes in your diet, especially lentils, because they're rich in B vitamins, which are essential for maintaining normal blood flow to the scalp. These vitamins also improve the nutrition of hair follicles, stimulating the growth of strong, healthy hair."
Sweet peppers are an excellent source of vitamin C, which plays a key role in collagen formation, essential for strengthening blood vessels, including the capillaries that nourish the scalp. Therefore, vitamin C not only promotes hair growth but also helps repair damaged hair.
Carrots are also an important product because they contain a high percentage of vitamin A, which regulates the activity of the sebaceous glands. Therefore, a sufficient amount of this vitamin gives hair a healthy shine, reduces dirt, and makes it less brittle. Additionally, vitamin A contributes to the regeneration of epithelial cells, making the scalp healthier and more resistant to external irritants.
