The occupation escalates in the West Bank: a couple run over and homes turned into military sites in Jenin.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said its crews transported a man and a woman to hospital after they were run over by an Israeli military vehicle in the town of Wadi Burqin, west of Jenin. The Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that the injuries occurred after an Israeli military vehicle collided with the vehicle they were traveling in at the entrance to the town.

In this context, the mayor of Rummana, Hassan Subaihat, stated that the Israeli occupation army had seized 11 homes in the town over the past four days, turning them into military barracks, leading to the forced displacement of Palestinian families. In the neighboring town of Anin, five families, comprising approximately 50 individuals, were forced to leave their homes, which were being used as deployment and observation posts.

In the village of Nazlat Sheikh Zeid, village council head Aziz Zeid confirmed that Israeli forces seized two homes and detained a high school student for two hours after blindfolding him before releasing him. They also assaulted a resident and closed off the village entrances and civilian facilities, including a pharmacy and a grocery store.

In the town of al-Lubban al-Sharqiya, south of Nablus, occupation forces bulldozed agricultural land and uprooted fences near the main road. In the village of al-Mughayyir, northeast of Ramallah, Israeli forces raided the town twice in one day, converting four homes into military sites.

These developments coincide with an ongoing 147-day Israeli military campaign in the northern West Bank, particularly in Jenin and its refugee camp, which are among the most prominent flashpoints of tension. Organizations and observers warn that converting civilian property into military targets and using it for security purposes constitutes a violation of international humanitarian law.

Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli occupation has escalated its attacks in the West Bank in parallel with the war on Gaza, resulting in the martyrdom of 978 Palestinians, the injury of nearly 7,000 others, and the arrest of more than 17,500, according to Palestinian statistics.
