The rewriting of history is considered to ignore the perspective of the victims, especially women, and emphasizes the perpetrator's narrative, so it is feared that it contains errors that are contrary to the values of Pancasila.
"The writing of this history is from the perspective of the perpetrator, not the perspective of the victim; and women are always the object, never the subject," said female activist Eva Sundari in a discussion held by the Indonesian Women's Coalition, as reported.
Pancasila has actually emphasized the principles of equality, inclusivity, and mutual cooperation. However, Eva views that in the rewriting of history initiated by the Ministry of Culture, there is actually a neglect of women's groups as victims.
"If women are denied, it means there is a fatal epistemic error," he said.
