Three provinces projected to have surplus digital talent by 2030





 The Ministry of Communication and Digital projects that the provinces of DKI Jakarta, Riau Islands, and the Special Region of Yogyakarta will experience a surplus of digital talent in 2030.

Based on data on the number of graduates in the field of communication and information technology, the ministry projects that DKI Jakarta Province will have a surplus of 225,014 digital talents, Riau Islands will have a surplus of 28,496 digital talents, and the Special Region of Yogyakarta will have a surplus of 42,446 digital talents in 2030.

Head of the Human Resources Development Agency of the Ministry of Communication and Digital, Bonifasius Wahyu Pudjianto, in a press conference said that the availability of digital talent is related to the growth of the digital industry.

"Actually, the correlation between supply and demand , the industry is currently still focused on Java. Ideally, the industry would also spread throughout Indonesia," he said.

According to data submitted by the Ministry of Communication and Digital, DKI Jakarta Province and Riau Islands in 2024 will have an excess of digital talent, with the surplus figures being 75,020 and 8,310 respectively.

Meanwhile, the Special Region of Yogyakarta Province, according to the data, is projected to only experience a digital talent surplus in 2026.
