DeskTime experts reveal the secret to increasing productivity at work, whether you work from home or in the office.
The study showed that organizing work time by taking regular breaks is key to achieving the best results.
The research team explained that the most productive employees rely on a specific 75/33 work cycle, where they work for 75 minutes continuously and then rest for 33 minutes. This cycle is ideal for office work compared to fully remote work, confirmed Artis Rosenthals, CEO of DeskTime.
Researchers analyzed the work habits of 6,000 DeskTime users in 2024 and found that time periods of 75 minutes of work and 33 minutes of rest were the most effective in terms of productivity. Previous studies conducted in 2014 and 2021 revealed different ratios: The average work period was 52 minutes followed by a 17-minute break in 2014, and 112 minutes of work and 26 minutes of rest in 2021.
Rosenthals noted that working from home has impacted employees' ability to maintain work-life balance, while the study showed that employees are more productive in an office environment, where they tend to take longer coffee breaks and connect with colleagues—practices that promote mental activity and social well-being.
