The World Boxing Council (WBC) announced that WBC flyweight world champion Kenshiro Teraji will defend his title against Ricardo Sandoval at Yokohama Buntai, Yokohama, Japan on July 30.
"Teraji has defended his belt eight times, including a rematch against Ganigan Lopez, whom he defeated by knockout (KO) in two rounds," the WBC reported on the association's website, which was monitored in Jakarta, Friday.
Teraji first won the WBC flyweight title in May 2017 by defeating Ganigan Lopez via majority decision.
After contracting COVID-19, he lost his undefeated record and title after being defeated by Masamichi Yabuki via KO in the tenth round in September 2021.
The fighter nicknamed "The Amazing Boy" returned with high spirits and determination, and avenged his defeat via KO in the third round six months later.
After that, Teraji defeated Hiroto Kyoguchi via technical knockout (TKO), and unified the world titles. He then defended his title against Anthony Olascuaga, Hekkie Budler, and Carlos Canizales.
