The International Table Tennis Federation has officially recognized the Indonesia Pingpong League as an official member association from Indonesia, replacing the position of the Central Board of the All Indonesia Table Tennis Association (PP PTMSI).
Chairman of the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI/NOC Indonesia) Raja Sapta Oktohari said the decision was taken at the 2025 ITTF Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Doha, Qatar, on May 27.
"The ITTF considers that the problem of table tennis governance in Indonesia has been going on for too long, even reaching two decades. Therefore, we were asked to help form a new body," Okto told reporters.
"Alhamdulillah, through good cooperation between various stakeholders, including the Ministry of Youth and Sports, we now have a new organization for the sport of table tennis," he added.
Okto explained that the recognition of the IPL was the result of an understanding between the ITTF, the Asian Table Tennis Confederation (ATTU), and the Indonesian NOC who agreed to restart the governance of national table tennis through the formation of a new organization.
In the transition process, the ITTF has appointed the Indonesian NOC to form a Transition Committee whose duties will last until the IPL holds a congress to elect a definitive leader in accordance with the organization's constitution.
The Transition Committee is led by the General Chairperson of Indonesian Aquatics Anindya Bakrie, with Deputy Chairperson Ita Yulianti who is also the General Chairperson of the Indonesian Gymnastics Federation. Other members of the Indonesian NOC are KOI Executive Harry Warganegara and KOI Secretary General Wijaya Noeradi, as well as Ferry Kono from Inaspro.
"The Transition Committee is tasked with managing Indonesian table tennis, registering athletes and officials for international events, and holding IPL management elections democratically and in accordance with the statutes," said Harry Warganegara.
NOC Indonesia ensures that all table tennis players, including athletes, coaches, and referees, can still participate in various international competitions, both single events and multi-events , as long as they meet the provisions of the international federation.
