The Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth quoted unnamed sources familiar with the talks as saying that Netanyahu "assured those close to him that the Israeli negotiating team will remain in Doha until an agreement is reached regarding the prisoners."
Indirect negotiations are taking place in the Qatari capital between Israel and Hamas, mediated by Egypt and Qatar and supported by the United States.
In this regard, the newspaper stated: "Discussions involving representatives of Israel and Hamas are continuing, with progress being made on several issues, despite significant gaps."
Citing unnamed sources, it said, "Netanyahu has shown remarkable flexibility on the contentious issue of maps showing the withdrawal of Israeli forces from certain areas in the Gaza Strip, including dropping Israel's request to maintain a presence in the Morag Corridor (separating the cities of Khan Yunis and Rafah) after the ceasefire."
"Israeli officials confirmed reports that agreements or near-agreements had been reached on some details of the withdrawal map," she said.
"Negotiators are now addressing the sensitive issue of how many and who will be released in a potential deal," she added.
Israel continues its war on Gaza while conducting indirect negotiations with Hamas in Qatar since July 6 to conclude a prisoner exchange and ceasefire agreement, amid reports of progress in the negotiations.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel, with American support, has been committing genocide in Gaza, including killing, starvation, destruction, and displacement, ignoring international calls and orders from the International Court of Justice to halt it.
