Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Nezar Patria said that the roadmap for adopting artificial intelligence (AI) technology and the presidential regulation on the governance of safety and security in AI use will be finalized simultaneously in September 2025.
"We hope the process can be completed, based on our timeline , by the end of September," Nezar said when met in Central Jakarta on Thursday.
Nezar stated that the initial draft of the roadmap and regulations on AI use have been completed and are being discussed with relevant stakeholders.
Discussions were held in 21 meetings over almost six weeks, and involved seven working groups (pokja) from various ministries and institutions.
"The results are expected to adequately represent the interests of existing stakeholders ," said Nezar.
The Ministry of Communication and Digital will then hold public consultations and draft a final roadmap and regulations on AI adoption.
After that, the draft roadmap and presidential regulation on AI adoption will be sent to the Ministry of State Secretariat and enter the harmonization stage at the Ministry of Law.
