Ciudad Victoria, Tamps., October 2.- Américo Villarreal Anaya was sworn in yesterday as governor of Tamaulipas, during a solemn session in the local Congress, where he was accompanied by the Secretary of the Interior, Adán Augusto López.
After a popular festival at the Teatro del Pueblo, the Morena member told thousands of people that state corporations will never again be used against the population, much less for their political preferences. He therefore called for a revival of public life, an end to corruption, and an end to plunder. Furthermore, according to previous reports on the state's finances, he is taking office with a debt exceeding 16 billion pesos.
He emphasized that bribes and fees charged to entrepreneurs who build public works projects during his administration were over, and he announced the construction of a four-lane highway from the Port of Altamira to the Industrial City of Monterrey, Nuevo León, and Saltillo, Coahuila, on the Magueyes-Ciudad Victoria stretch.
Villarreal Anaya announced that the Energy Commission will be eliminated and the Secretariat of Energy, as well as the Secretariat of Hydraulic Resources and Social Development, will be created.
