Tijuana, October 8.- The State Penitentiary System Commission reported that shortly before 7:00 p.m. this Saturday, October 8, a fight broke out inside the Tijuana Social Reintegration Center, which was brought under control around 7:30 p.m. thanks to immediate coordination with the State and Tijuana Citizen Security Secretariats, the State Attorney General's Office, SEDENA, and the National Guard.
State Penitentiary Commissioner María Elena Andrade Ramírez stated that thanks to a swift and timely response and coordination among the various law enforcement agencies, the brawl was quickly contained without any injuries.
Additionally, thanks to the dialogue established between authorities and inmates, it was agreed that the inmates would enter their designated areas of their own volition, accepting that there were no complaints regarding the service or treatment the inmates received.
According to preliminary information, an internal dispute within the PPL led to the attempted brawl. A security guard found himself in the middle of the situation while trying to control the brawl, but was taken into custody minutes later.
It should be noted that the State Government assured that it will continue to work in close coordination with the National Human Rights Commission (CNDH) and the State Human Rights Commission (CEDH) to safeguard the human rights and integrity of all persons within prisons.
