Mexicali, August 16.- The Solemn Session commemorating Constituent Assembly Day took place in the "Benito Juárez García" Parliamentary Hall. This emblematic date commemorates the creation of the Political Constitution of the Free and Sovereign State of Baja California, promulgated on August 16, 1952, the foundation of the legal and democratic order of our State.
The legislative ceremony was presided over by Representative Jaime Eduardo Cantón Rocha, President of the Board of Directors of the Honorable XXV Legislature, accompanied by the Governor of the State, Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda, and the President Magistrate of the Superior Court of Justice and the Judicial Council, Alejandro Isaac Fragoso López.
“Baja California has undergone a profound transformation: from a territory with fewer than 100,000 inhabitants, it has now established itself as a state with nearly 4 million people, a leader in foreign investment, and one with the lowest rates of poverty and inequality in the country. This evolution reflects a diverse and mature society that has known how to put the collective well-being above any personal or partisan interests,” stated Representative Jaime Cantón before those present.
The legislator recalled that the Constituent Congress's work remains relevant, as Evaristo Bonifaz expressed in 1953: to build a living Constitution that responds to the aspirations and challenges of each generation. In that spirit, Cantón Rocha called on the current representatives to continue this work with humility and historical responsibility, fighting for the most vulnerable, for inclusion, justice, and the dignity of all.
