Tijuana, August 16 – Mayor Ismael Burgueño Ruiz participated in the first nighttime census of homeless and mobile people in Tijuana, with the goal of obtaining accurate information that will inform the design of public policies and comprehensive care actions for their benefit.

In his address from the Centro Delegation, Mayor Ismael Burgueño highlighted the work of Beatriz Olivares Pinal, head of the National Center for Crime Prevention and Citizen Participation, to benefit those most in need, in keeping with the commitment of Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, as well as the work of the state governor, Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda.

“Beyond a count, this exercise will give us a perspective to understand this problem and design programs and public policies that allow us to restore dignity to these people, improve their quality of life, and facilitate their reintegration into society. Behind every homeless or displaced person is a story that deserves our empathy and understanding, without stigma or discrimination,” said Burgueño Ruiz.
