Burgueño promotes actions to consolidate the Historic Center as a tourist attraction

Tijuana, November 13. Tijuana Mayor Ismael Burgueño Ruiz reaffirmed his commitment to "restore the splendor of Avenida Revolución and consolidate it as a tourist attraction in the city."

He toured the area—starting at the new threshold on Revolución Avenue—with officials from all three levels of government, including the federal Secretary of Tourism, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora.

In a press release, the City Council highlighted that it has implemented a rehabilitation program for the Historic Center, including the transformation of a section of Revolución Avenue into a pedestrian walkway, "which has transformed it into a space designed to offer a recreational, safe, and family-friendly environment for citizens and tourists, highlighting the city's historical, culinary, and cultural attractions, in addition to contributing to the strengthening of commerce in the area."

He explained that the goal is to consolidate Tijuana's Historic Center as a tourist destination, centered on the region's culture, gastronomy, and border identity.

In this regard, Baja California's Secretary of Tourism, Miguel Aguíñiga Rodríguez, emphasized that Tijuana's historic center is "a landmark of our history and culture. It is being revitalized through the joint efforts of the three levels of government, with the goal of positioning it as a key attraction for visitors and the local community, making tourism a tool for social reconciliation."
