City Council responds to report of missing girl in Chaparral

Tijuana, September 27.- The Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, José Fernando Sánchez González, announced that in response to an anonymous report about the alleged disappearance of a girl between the ages of 5 and 7 at the Chaparral migrant camp, they will launch a search operation, which includes issuing an Amber Alert.

Without specifying the date or time, the press release said that the emergency number received a report about the disappearance of the minor, identified as "Michel," who was allegedly alone in the city and whose origin is unknown.

The report follows a call about an attempted sexual assault against another minor in recent days, so "immediate attention is necessary," said Sánchez González, who announced that she will immediately implement "the action plan for the El Chaparral area."

He stated that "we will act in accordance with the established protocols for these types of cases, including search, prevention, and action," and assured that an Amber Alert will be activated to locate the minor, in addition to informing U.S. authorities to provide "the necessary precautions at the border crossing."

Actions in the camp

In the same bulletin, the Secretary of Security mentioned that Montserrat Caballero Ramírez "had already developed an action plan to address the case of the individuals located in El Chaparral, which will be implemented immediately."

Actions include establishing a preventive perimeter, accompanied by a census, to ensure the safety of children and adults living in the area; issuing ID cards to the occupants; identifying individual cases and providing facilities for those who wish to return to their country of origin; and placing those who wish to remain in the city in a shelter.
