With hundreds of islands scattered across Maluku, transportation access remains a major challenge for the province in providing various services to its residents.
Regions that fall into the category of underdeveloped, outermost, and most remote (3T) in Indonesia need strong support in the form of adequate sea transportation considering that their regions consist of small islands surrounded by sea.
In this context, Indonesia's state-owned River, Lake, and Ferry Transportation Company (ASDP) plays a vital role. The ASDP Ferry Ambon Branch plays a crucial role with its commitment to connecting isolated areas, delivering not only logistics but also hope for a better life for the community.
Transportation is not just a means of mobility, but is also the key to equitable development and increased prosperity.
Currently, ASDP Ambon operates 11 ships serving 25 ferry routes. Of these, six serve pioneer routes, and five operate commercially.
This service covers routes in Maluku and West Papua Provinces, reaching small islands and coastal cities that are vital for regional connectivity.
ASDP Ambon claims to always optimize its role in facilitating community mobility and logistics distribution in areas that have previously been difficult to reach through reliable sea transportation services.
With this effort, ASDP supports the government's strategic steps to de-isolate areas and strengthen the foundations of the local economy. "We strive to ensure that people in the 3T (frontier and remote) regions receive reliable and sustainable transportation services," said ASDP Ambon General Manager Syamsuddin Tanassy.
For him, this is a concrete step in creating new economic opportunities, improving logistics distribution, and improving the standard of living of people in remote areas.
