His family found him, and Semefo disappeared him in the mass grave.

Tijuana, May 29. Edgar Jovani Ávila Moreno has been missing since July 3, 2020. His family searched for him until they thought they'd found him in the mass grave and paid 90,000 pesos to recover his body. However, a few hours before the wake, his loved ones realized the remains were female and had to return them to the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo).

Carrying banners reading "May the eyes of the disappeared haunt your dreams and the cries of their mothers keep you awake," Teresita Moreno, Edgar's sister, and people searching for a loved one demonstrated in front of the General Secretariat of Government where they demanded the release of Edgar Jovani, who remains missing, but now in a mass grave.

The family believed they would finally have the peace of mind to bury and mourn the 29-year-old in a place familiar to them, but instead their pilgrimage returned, as they claim that when they returned the female body, they learned that in the same grave there were at least two other bodies with identical documents.

The young woman stated that after paying 90,000 pesos for the exhumation and funeral services, they will not spend any more money to recover her brother's body; she noted that her case is not unique; "We don't want it to be repeated with other colleagues, with other people who are also going through the same thing."
