Norris not planning a one-pit-stop strategy at the 2025 Hungarian GP

Lando Norris secured a dramatic victory in the 2025 Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix after outpacing his McLaren teammate, Oscar Piastri, in a fierce duel in the final laps.

Norris made the most of a risky one-pit-stop strategy to beat Piastri, who finished second, while Mercedes' George Russell took third place on the podium.

In a post-race interview, Norris admitted he hadn't planned that strategy, but was pleased with the result.

"We didn't really plan a one-pit-stop strategy at the start, but after the first lap, it became our only option to get back to winning ways," Norris told the F1 website on Monday.

"It was a gamble, but without mistakes, with a good lap and the right strategy, we succeeded," he added.

Norris praised the team's decision to switch to the hard tyre, although he initially doubted the strategy would lead to victory.

"I thought maybe we would finish second. But our pace was good, even in the first stint behind George (Russell). I knew if I could get some space and get the car going, we had a chance."
