Polls touch on Hong Kong's sore spot; national security harassment is counterproductive

As the Year of the Snake begins, I wish everyone good luck and good health. New Year's resolutions: I hope that Hong Kong people, wherever they are, can find their way and rhythm in life, never forgetting their Hong Kong identity, and continue to speak freely, gathering public opinion and expressing their feelings for Hong Kong to the world.

The Hong Kong government overreacted to the "Hong Kong People's Opinion Research Project at Home and Abroad"

The "Hong Kong Public Opinion Research Project at Home and Abroad," recently launched by Dr. Chung Kim-wah, is a novel channel for expressing public opinion. The overreaction of Hong Kong's national security authorities surrounding the project's launch is intriguing. First, authorities offered a reward for Chung's arrest, fabricating allegations that he incited secession. Subsequently, they detained at least ten individuals they suspected of being associated with Chung, including several of his family members and Chung Ting-yiu, CEO of the Hong Kong Public Opinion Research Institute. All were subsequently released, and no one was charged.

For many people, the police's mobilization of a large number of troops and their clear targeting of Chung Kim-wah and his public opinion plan have in themselves prompted everyone to participate in support. But more importantly, these deterrent measures express the authorities' concerns and also remind us that the importance of expressing Hong Kong public opinion through systematic investigations at this moment far exceeds the initiators' ideas
