Production company where journalist Jorge Heras was attacked closes; a third person has been arrested.

Mexicali, August 29 – The production company “Casa Creala” closed its doors indefinitely following the attack suffered by journalist Jorge Heras outside its facilities. In recent developments in the assault case, a third man was arrested yesterday, identified as the second assailant who directly participated in the attack. According to the journalist, this man “also hit me” and who he suspected “was armed” due to the gesture he made when trying to pull out a gun.

In a statement, the team noted that this incident not only constitutes an attack on a colleague, but also a direct blow to freedom of expression in Baja California.

"Today, a media company is forced to halt its activities due to the prevailing violence and censorship," the message reads. However, they clarified that although the physical space is closing, the journalistic project is not over: "We are restructuring, adapting, and will continue reporting, because critical journalism cannot be silenced."

Likewise, "Casa Creala" assured that this event will not silence its work, but rather will strengthen its commitment to truth and society.
