Tijuana, August 9.- With the inauguration of the Artisan Sale Expo, the government of Mayor Ismael Burgueño Ruiz commemorated the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples, highlighting the cultural richness and important contribution that indigenous communities make to the social and economic life of this city.
Representing Mayor Ismael Burgueño, Secretary of Welfare Wendy Ontiveros González recognized the value and wealth of the indigenous communities settled in Tijuana, reiterating the current administration's support for promoting public policies that guarantee a better quality of life for all.
For her part, the Director of Attention to Indigenous Peoples, Ofelia Hernández Juárez, acknowledged the interest that Mayor Ismael Burgueño has shown in promoting the historical legacy of the Yuman Peoples: Kiliwa, Cucapá, Kumiai, Cochimi, and Pai Pai, who were in charge of the harmonization ceremony.
Hernández Juárez invited the people of Tijuana to celebrate this colorful celebration, which combines the past and the present, alongside the 25th Tijuana City Council: “This International Day of Indigenous Peoples, we wanted to bring all the richness of the communities to the Artisan Sale Expo, which brings together traditional cuisine, music, dance, and a family-friendly atmosphere in the heart of the city: Avenida Revolución,” he said.
