Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid invited telecommunications operators to accelerate the development of network infrastructure in areas that do not yet have internet access.
"If we count provinces, there isn't a single province in Indonesia that doesn't have an internet connection. But if we talk about villages, there are still around 15,000 that aren't connected. This is a shared responsibility between the government and the private sector, particularly telecommunications operators," Meutya said in Jakarta on Wednesday.
According to him, network development in areas with small markets remains important because digital connectivity in a region will impact the overall digital ecosystem.
"So, the red and white spirit must also be embedded in private companies, and I believe that the three existing cellular operators in our country have consolidated," he said.
