The U.S. House of Representatives passed the Taiwan International Solidarity Act, the Taiwan Assurance Implementation Act, and the Falun Gong Protection Act

The U.S. House of Representatives passed several bills on the 5th, including two pro-Taiwan bills: the Taiwan International Solidarity Act and the Taiwan Assurance Implementation Act. It also passed the Falun Gong Protection Act (HR1540). Regarding the U.S. House of Representatives' passage of the Taiwan International Solidarity Act and the Taiwan Assurance Implementation Act, Taiwan's presidential office spokesperson wrote on its X platform account: The U.S. Congress's firm support sends a clear signal of opposition to China's abuse of UN Resolution 2758 to restrict Taiwan's international space. Taiwan’s Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung also expressed his strong welcome and sincere gratitude to the U.S. Congress for continuing to demonstrate bipartisan support for Taiwan through concrete legislation. Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the Taiwan Assurance Implementation Act requires the Secretary of State to regularly review the State Department's guidelines for relations with Taiwan, including any subsequent related documents. This review must be conducted at least every five years, and a report must be submitted to Congress within 90 days of completion. The Taiwan International Solidarity Act clearly states that UN General Assembly Resolution 2758 does not address the issue of representation of Taiwan and the Taiwanese people in the United Nations or any relevant organizations, nor does it take a position on relations between China and Taiwan or contain any statement on Taiwan's sovereignty; the United States opposes any action intended to change Taiwan's status without the consent of the Taiwanese people. The Falun Gong Protection Act, passed unanimously by the U.S. House of Representatives, requires the United States to stop China's practice of live organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners and other prisoners of conscience, and requires the president to impose visa and property freeze sanctions on foreigners who knowingly, directly participate in or assist in involuntary organ harvesting in China.
