Tree planting rejected on median near BC's SICT

Mexicali, May 16.- The Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transportation rejected the planting of trees on the median strip surrounding its facilities in Baja California, which is being carried out through a citizen initiative.

A Mexican government official threatened to request the support of the National Guard to prevent the planting of trees, arguing that the median strip is located in a federal zone and that they do not accept trees.

Tree planting in a one-kilometer stretch of land in front of the federal delegation is scheduled for Saturday morning.

Businessman Jaine Dávila announced that he will continue this extraordinary civic effort in favor of the environment.

This project, which plants trees endemic to the region, began five years ago in different areas of the city. In addition to producing its own compost, it produces more than 20,000 trees on the property to be transplanted to median strips and streets in Baja California's capital.
