Persebaya Surabaya captain Bruno Moreira's late penalty denied home team Dewa United a victory in the 2025/26 BRI Super League match at the Banten International Stadium (BIS), Serang, Friday.
Thanks to this goal, the team nicknamed Bajol Ijo was able to hold the host Dewa United to a 1-1 draw even though from the 38th minute onwards, Eduardo Perez's team played with 10 men.
The match itself immediately became a tight affair, as both teams sought the best possible result. The home team displayed a determined performance despite their opponents' continued resistance.
Marukawa and Egy Maulana dominated possession for the home team. The two often threatened Persebaya's goal, guarded by Ernando Ari.
The home team's attempt to score was realized in the 28th minute through Stefano Lilipaly. However, after a VAR review, the goal was disallowed as the naturalized player was initially ruled offside.
The tight match continued. Dewa United continued to pressure Persebaya's defense, led by Rachmat Irianto. However, the visitors were the ones who had to overcome the odds. Dejan Tumbas was sent off in the 38th minute for elbowing Marukawa.

The match immediately became tight. Dewa United continued to restrict Persebaya's movement. Marukawa even managed to break through the opposing defense in the 59th minute. However, Messidoro failed to convert his precise pass into a goal.
Persebaya didn't give up despite the constant pressure. Bruno Moreira even managed to break through Jan Olde Riekerink's defense. However, his shot went just wide of goalkeeper Sonny Stevens.
The home team's long-awaited goal finally arrived. Substitute Septian Bagaskara's header beat Ernando Ari's goal in the 70th minute after receiving a well-placed pass from Brian Fatari. Dewa United took a 1-0 lead.
