The Israeli military said in a statement issued early Thursday that it had detected a missile being launched from Yemen toward Israeli territory, noting that its defense systems were working to intercept it.

Later, air raid sirens sounded in several areas in southern Israel. The Israeli military confirmed that air raid sirens had been activated in several areas following the rocket launch, explaining that the details were currently being examined.

The occupation army added that after the alarms were activated, the Israeli Air Force was able to intercept the missile launched from Yemen.

Earlier on Wednesday, media outlets affiliated with the Yemeni Houthi group reported that Israel launched attacks on the capital, Sanaa, and Al-Jawf Governorate (northeast), killing nine people and wounding approximately 120 others.

The Ministry of Health of the Houthi government (not internationally recognized) reported that nine people were killed and approximately 120 injured "in the initial toll of the Israeli aggression" on Sanaa and Al-Jawf, according to the group's Al Masirah channel.

The Yemeni Houthi group has been launching attacks on Israel using missiles and drones, in addition to targeting ships linked to or heading toward it. They claim their attacks are in response to Israel's ongoing genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

With American support, Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023, leaving 64,656 Palestinians martyred, 163,503 wounded, most of them children and women, hundreds of thousands displaced, and 404 Palestinians, including 141 children, dying from famine.
