Mexicali, May 10.- Former Baja California Governor Jaime Bonilla Valdez usurped the position of Senator of the Republic, stated the legal advisor of the National Action Party (PAN), Juan Marcos Gutiérrez.
The person responsible for filing the appeal before the Guadalajara Chamber of the Electoral Tribunal of the Federal Judicial Branch (TEPJF) stated that, at this time, Jaime Bonilla is not a senator.
He indicated that the TEPJF ruling took effect immediately and that there is no suspension in electoral matters.
"That's where Senator Sánchez Cordero is mistaken. It's not true that we should wait until the higher court rules before removing the gentleman from office," he explained.
Marcos Gutiérrez said he was confident that the Superior Court would uphold the Guadalajara Court's ruling, effectively preventing Jaime Bonilla from returning to the Senate.
The electoral law specialist stated that they will appear as third parties involved and will present the
ir arguments.
