Mexicali, October 29.- The Secretary of Health of Baja California, Dr. Alonso Óscar Pérez Rico, thanked the commitment of the entire health sector that worked during the current administration, highlighting the efforts made during the COVID pandemic that began in 2020 .
Efforts against COVID
The secretary indicated that one of the measures to control the pandemic at the community level was the establishment of 18 primary care units as the first point of contact for patients with COVID-19 symptoms.
In turn, 7 general hospitals, IMSS and ISESALUD hospitals were converted to COVID-19 hospitals, and 3 support hospital units (UABC Mobile Unit, Polytechnic University, and Zonkeys Auditorium) were enabled for patients with the disease. Regarding this fact, he indicated that to date, 17,795 patients have been treated in hospitals and 49,071 patients on an outpatient basis.
Regarding the vaccination strategy , he indicated that a total of 3 million 81 thousand 150 vaccines have been administered , covering 2 million 178 thousand 337 complete schedules, for a coverage of 80.81%.
Pérez Rico mentioned that with the support of the Institute of Health for Well-being ( INSABI) , the infrastructure and equipment of the various general hospitals in Baja California were strengthened.
At Tijuana General Hospital , work was carried out on the installation of the air conditioning system, replacement of the boiler system, hot water generators, pumping system, water treatment, and rehabilitation of the piping network in the machine room and the installation of magnetic resonance imaging equipment .
Likewise, at the Mexicali General Hospital, work was completed on replacing the air conditioning system and machine room; while at the Ensenada General Hospital , the hot water tank , pumping system, and softening system were replaced and renovated.
