The Ministry of Communication and Digital is mourning the loss of four telecommunications officers and activists who were victims of a helicopter crash in Central Papua.
Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid expressed her appreciation to these telecommunications champions for their dedication to ensuring equal access to telecommunications in the Papua region.
"We offer our deepest condolences for this tragedy. The deceased were among the frontliners, devoting themselves to equalizing telecommunications access in Papua. May the bereaved families be granted fortitude and strength," said Meutya.
The four victims were Sulfiki Kurniawan, Herwanto, Eko Puja, and Sudirman, they died while carrying out maintenance duties on the Palapa Ring East telecommunications infrastructure in Jila District, Mimika, Central Papua.
Meutya emphasized that the victims' dedication is a concrete manifestation of the struggle to provide telecommunications services in the 3T (frontier, outermost, and disadvantaged) areas which are full of challenges.
"Their task was not easy, fraught with risks, but it was of great significance to Indonesia. We deeply appreciate the sacrifices and services of the deceased, who made a significant contribution to providing telecommunications services in remote areas," he said.
