Mexicali, June 1.- Citizen councilor Francisco Fiorentini reported that the State Secretariat of Honesty and Public Function suspended six members of the Citizen Anti-Corruption Council in order to illegally remove technical secretary Luis Irineo.
On June 30, councilors Edgardo Silva and Ricardo Zurita convened a meeting of the other members of the governing body of the State Anti-Corruption System, without having the authority to do so, and thus be able to approve various agenda items, including the dismissal of Luis Irineo, Fiorentini denounced.
He said that Vicenta Espinosa—the Secretary of Honesty and Public Service—does not have the authority to suspend citizens from an autonomous body, so the six councilors will be meeting to legally challenge the previous assembly.

"It's a matter of reading the regulations. It can be called solely through the president or it can be called through a majority of the council members, but 'Chito' Silva, a Tecate trustee who is no longer serving, and Councilor Zurita are not empowered to call one," he explained.
