Stellantis experiences customer data leak due to hacking

Global automotive manufacturer Stellantis, the parent company of several major brands such as Dodge, Ram, and Chrysler, confirmed a breach of customer personal data due to a hack on a third-party service provider's platform.

In its official statement, reported by Engadget on Tuesday, Stellantis said the information taken was in the form of customer "contact data," but did not include financial data or other sensitive personal information, because this type of data was not stored on the hacked third-party platform.

"We recently detected unauthorized access to a third-party service provider platform that supports our customer service operations in North America. Upon discovery, we immediately activated our incident response protocols, initiated a thorough investigation, and took swift action to limit and mitigate the impact," Stellantis said.

"We also notified the relevant authorities and directly informed affected customers," he continued.
