Tijuana, July 15. Former mayor Montserrat Caballero Ramírez stated that one of the investigations being conducted against her by the Municipal Comptroller's Office relates to the omission of her husband's information in his asset declaration and not to a house she ordered built during her term as head of Tijuana.
In October 2024, council members of the National Action Party (PAN) denounced the former mayor for her alleged responsibility in the crime of illicit enrichment , for the construction of a property valued at 16 million pesos in the Costa Coronado Residencial neighborhood.
On July 9, Caballero Ramírez, using social media, accused Avila Olmeda of "wanting to take her house" and of being behind the lawsuits against her. He also said that Carlos Torres, the state governor's husband, was trying to "end her career."
"The governor said it's about a property, and what do you think? It's not about a property, it's about an omission : I didn't include my husband's information in my declaration because I felt it wasn't necessary because my husband isn't even in public office and is an American citizen," she declared this Tuesday upon arriving at City Hall accompanied by her lawyer, former Chief Warrant Officer Marcelo de Jesús Machain Servín.
She indicated that the Audit Office informed her that the information of Said Ravanfar , her husband, did have to be included in the declaration, so she said she went with the tax receipts and transfers made by her spouse.
"I have, if necessary, my husband's tax returns, bank transfers he made to Mexico, and how he can prove that he paid for the house ," she said.
He also noted that he wanted to take this opportunity to clarify that the disputed property does not cost 16 million pesos, but rather seven million .
"It's a property that, yes, fortunately, not all citizens can own property, but public officials can : my property costs a little less than seven million pesos, not 16 million," he stated.
