Mexicali, January 6.- The mayor of Mexicali, Norma Bustamante, reported that the theft of more than half a million pesos from the treasurer of the Movimiento Ciudadano party in the city's Golden Zone on January 4 is now in the hands of the state Attorney General's Office.
Yesterday, she and Pedro Ariel Mendívil, the city's director of Public Safety, discussed the matter, but she cannot comment on it because the investigation is ongoing.
He added that yesterday there was a meeting in Tijuana with the directors of Public Security, officials, and mayors —with the exception of the mayor of Tecate, who is infected with COVID—where they were introduced to the new Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Gilberto Landeros Briseño, and where common and coordinated actions to combat insecurity were also proposed.
"The key issue was coordinating the municipalities with the Security Secretariat to do a better job and achieve better results," the mayor noted.
