The Papua Representative Office of the Indonesian National Commission on Human Rights hopes that Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka's visit to the region will resolve the conflict in Papua.
"Vice President Gibran's visit to Papua is expected to be more than just a ceremony, but also something more substantial to resolve the problems in Papua," said Frits Ramandey, Head of the Papua Representative Office of the Indonesian National Human Rights Commission.
According to Ramandey, his party hopes that during his visit to Papua, the vice president can take time to meet with religious leaders, community leaders, the National Human Rights Commission, local governments, and the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri).
"The meeting was to discuss the problem and then develop an agenda for resolving the conflict in Papua," he said.
