Alwi Farhan rose four places to world number 17


Several Indonesian men's singles players saw their world rankings rise after appearing at the BWF World Tour Super 500 Korea Open 2025 last week, including Alwi Farhan, who climbed four places to 17th in the world.


In the latest ranking list released by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) on Tuesday, Alwi now has 52,610 points thanks to his performance in Korea before his progress was stopped by Jonatan Christie in the quarterfinals with a score of 21-18, 14-21, 15-21.


Besides Alwi, Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo also improved his ranking, climbing 10 spots to No. 41 in the world rankings, despite being eliminated in the second round. Starting in qualifying, the Papuan badminton player lost to Chou Tien Chen (Taiwan) 9-21, 17-21.

Anthony Sinisuka Ginting saw a bigger ranking jump, climbing 24 spots to world number 61. Ginting finally secured his first victory since the 2025 Malaysia Open, although he was eliminated in the second round of the Korea Open.


Meanwhile, Jonatan Christie, who won the title after defeating Anders Antonsen (Denmark) in the final with a score of 21-10, 21-15, 21-17, remains in sixth place in the world with 78,144 points. The title in Korea marks Jonatan's first trophy of the season.
