Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital (Wamenkomdigi) Nezar Patria said that Indonesia needs sufficient human resources (HR) with technological skills to face the demographic bonus period, when the number of productive-age population exceeds the non-productive-age population.
"This is a big homework for all of us to develop capable human resources who are ready to face new challenges in a world full of uncertainty," he said at the reunion and seminar of the Indonesian Student Press Association Alumni Activists Forum (FAA PPMI) at the Brawijaya University Auditorium, Malang City.
As quoted in the ministry's press statement in Jakarta on Monday, he said that Indonesia needs talents in the field of artificial intelligence ( AI ) who are able to develop AI technology independently in accordance with the nation's culture.
"Countries in the global south often use foreign products, and their values may not align with their own. That's why technological independence is important," he said.
