Host athletes performed well at the Indonesia Para Badminton International

A number of Indonesian para badminton athletes opened a positive step on the first day of the Polytron Indonesia Para Badminton International 2025 at the Manahan Indoor Sports Hall, Solo City, Wednesday.

In the opening match of the Grade 2 Level 1 tournament, Suryo Nugroho was one of the host's representatives who performed convincingly.

Despite not being seeded in the men's singles SU5 event, the 2024 Paris Paralympics silver medalist successfully defeated Indian representative Chirag Baretha with a score of 21-12, 21-10.

"Thank God, the first match went according to plan. I was able to beat the Indian representative, but I still have to prepare better because the competition is very tight," Suryo said in an official statement.

Hikmat Ramdani and Leani Ratri Oktila also secured victory in the mixed doubles SL3-SU5 event. The Paris Paralympic gold medalists defeated India's Ruthick Ragupathi and Manasi Girishchandra Joshi 21-3, 21-8.

In the mixed doubles SH6, the pair Subhan/Rina Marlina defeated the Thai pair Natthapong Meechai/Chai Saeyang, also with 13-21, 21-18, 21-13.
